Busy April
A few updates in this post.
I wasn’t able to attend Goth Night because of high winds over 40mph that night.
I have registered 113 songs now with ASCAP and pending with TheMLC. I attended a webinar online live with TheMLC to confirm all the knowledge I have been doing research on and submitted the spreadsheet early this morning. The first time they were rejected. The entire process has been very interesting. It’s not super difficult, however there are some quirks to everything with each company that can be discouragingly confusing. I’m thinking of doing a video to go through the process if I can find a way to record the submissions in an easy-to-understand video. Moving forward I have to now put them all into SoundExchange. Besides that busy work, which doesn’t really have a huge impact on anything I do because no songs are popular right now so royalties will most likely be negligible, I still feel like I should have known how to do all this stuff many years ago and think it is an important process for songwriters and publishers to go through to keep our dreams alive and respect our work. As primarily an album lover since a very young age, these are some of the final steps that these works can go through, however it can be only the beginning.
There are some other events coming up that I’m looking to attend in the near future. For2itous is performing at Shanghai Nobby’s on Saturday the 11th as well as Treaty Skate Park on the 24th with some other bands starting at 6pm.
Earlier on Saturday is Customer Appreciation Day at St. Augustine Powersports from 11am to 3pm. Fun for the whole family it looks like with giveaways and more.
Erin McKenna will be signing books at Disney Springs on Friday, April 17th from 5pm-7pm and Saturday April 18th from noon until 2pm. She has a bakery there and parking is free. Erin wrote the first vegan cookbook I ever owned not long after I first became vegan. Mind-blowing desserts and gluten-free concepts. I eventually went gluten-free as well for many years. Right now I am simply vegan. I’m going to try to catch her on Friday night and ordered a used copy of her first cookbook to hopefully get signed, however it would be unforgettable to simply see her in person at one of the stores she started.
I listed the Rockville ticket (wristband) and camping pass online in a couple places which arrived in the mail last week. I still may attend if no one buys. I’m not totally as prepared as I’d like to be, but I can dash last minute if necessary.
