Legend
I recently saw John Legend for my first show at The Amphitheater, St Augustine even though I live within walking distance from the venue. It was also my first R&B concert even though I grew up listening to Motown Records, Boyz II Men and Michael Jackson. It’s the anniversary tour of John Legend’s first major label album and he told the story of his whole career. The sound wasn’t great for the first quarter of the production, however John kept plowing through the normal energies with determination to deliver the legendary experience I was expecting. I think he was very true to old-fashioned stage shows and as the mixers finally stepped up their game, we could match the visuals to the sound with equal pride. His voice whether speaking or singing kept the bar high and I learned a lot about the man, the myth and the legend! I’m really happy my parents encouraged me to go with them and even though it was spritzing rain, partially causing them to leave early, I didn’t want to miss a thing. I would definitely recommend checking this tour out if you have the chance. I would have regretted the chance to see him before I died.

Another fun thing I got to do was Resurgence Goth Night with DJs Kill Bill and Evil K (going away party). I wore a spiked mask and vest, Alison Wonderland Loner bucket hat, black dress pants and a black shirt with a green skeleton’s torso on it. Many people were dressed up in costumes, the everyday goth wear or regular street clothes. I danced for a while before my lack of sleep caught up with me. It’s walking distance from the hotels on the other side of the river, so there is definitely a monthly opportunity happening for going out at The Albatross, Jacksonville for now. Through this show I also found out about a practice facility which also holds live shows called Hard Love. JoHanna Moresco hosts various events in this subculture which right now I would say is a trustworthy brand if you are looking for something to do. She really holds together a positive and mysterious atmosphere for breaking people out of the online monotony. I would search the web for tickets because she doesn’t update her website regularly enough to keep up with the busy schedule.

Later in the month I am visiting Kansas City to attend Planet Anime for a day and also going to a murder mystery dinner at Waldo Supper Club with a former roommate and schoolfellow from Berklee. They will accommodate veganism.
Rockville Updates: I bought reclaimed foam pad and backpack grill from REI thanks to a coupon after seeing they added The Offspring and Rise Against. Now I see they added Deathklok (fictional band in Metalocalypse), Signs of the Swarm, Galactic Empire and more. Mostly new stuff to me, however fitting after diving into the scene in Jacksonville.
